Hollywood 19 Best Ice Globes & Cryotherapy Tools to De-Puff Skin Theviraltime

Chances are you’ve seen the best ice globes and cryotherapy tools fill your TikTok For You page over the past few months. These cooling globes, often filled with a blue or glittering liquid, are mesmerizing to watch as users glide them across their faces. The results are too—namely, a reduction in puffiness and a noticeable glow. In addition to said results (more on that below), they can also take your skin-care routine to as close to spa-like levels as you can get at home.

What are ice globes and what do they do?

Ice globes and other cryotherapy tools (think gua sha stones, rollers, eggs, and wands) are usually made of stone, glass, metal, or plastic—and are stored in the fridge or freezer prior to use. Not only does the application of these chilled tools feel amazing on your face (talk about a wake-up call), but it can have a number of skin benefits too. “The cold temperatures can cause vasoconstriction of blood vessels, which can help to make the skin less red, and it can also decrease puffiness,” Hadley King, M.D., a board-certified dermatologist in New York, tells Glamour. This blood constriction can also help make skin look tighter, firmer, and glowier.

King says that the cold temps can also help with a reduction of fluid and lymphatic drainage, which is why you get a sculpted effect after using cryo tools. “Because the cold temperatures cause the blood vessels to vasoconstrict, this can reduce the amount of interstitial fluid that accumulates, so then there is less fluid to be drained by the lymphatics,” she says. Bye-bye, puffiness.

Ice globes and other tools can be particularly helpful for acne-prone skin, since they can help reduce redness and inflammation. Icing the area around breakouts will calm general redness, while “applying ice directly to the blemish will help to decrease inflammation, reducing the size and visibility of the spot,” says celebrity facialist Candace Marino. It’s not a bad idea either to keep these beauty tools on deck for calming skin after any peels or microdermabrasion treatments.

How do you use ice globes and cryo tools?

While most of these skin-care tools can be chilled in both freezer and fridge, you might want to be more cautious with glass ice globe facial massagers, since subzero temps can cause them to crack. Taylor Worden, celebrity esthetician and founder of Taylor Worden Skin, recommends keeping your ice globes in the fridge so they aren’t as intense when you apply them to your skin. Instead of working them over dry skin, “you can use them with a serum, moisturizer or mask,” Worden says. “I like to wet them with water a little to give them some slip.” If you’re using a metal roller, simply use it the same way you’d use a jade roller, and enjoy the extra-chilly benefits.
